Package Sold by One Staff, Done by Another: Commission

One Package, Two Staff: How to Split Commission When One Person Sells and Another Does the Treatment

Which salon software in Malaysia can calculate sales and treatment commission separately? How to split commission when one staff sells and another redeems.

To pay fairly when a package is sold by one staff member and redeemed by another, calculate sales commission and hands-on (treatment) commission separately. The seller earns sales commission on the money the salon actually collects, often in tiers, and the therapist who performs each session earns hands-on commission when that session is redeemed. MyBMS Pro does this with its two-track tiered commission engine, which keeps the two commissions apart, including when the package is redeemed at another branch.

Why one package causes two arguments

  • The consultant feels the sale is theirs. They closed a large package and expect to be rewarded for it.
  • The therapist does all the work. If the consultant took everything on day one, the therapist delivering ten sessions feels unpaid.
  • Package customers get passed around. Therapists may avoid package customers if those sessions earn them nothing.
  • Payments come in parts. Instalments and Atome mean the salon collects less, or later, than the bill shows.
  • Chains add a branch question. A package bought at Branch A and used at Branch B raises the question of which branch, and which staff, earns what.

A consultant selling a package and a therapist delivering it is a normal division of work. The problem starts when commission goes to only one of them. Calculate sales and hands-on commission separately, and the consultant and therapist will look after the customer together.

Sales commission vs hands-on commission: calculate them separately

Diagram comparing sales commission and hands-on commission: sales commission for the seller on money collected in tiers, hands-on commission for the therapist on each redeemed session, and automatic routing across branches

Sales commission: for selling, on money collected

Sales commission rewards the person who sold the package. Calculate it on total collection, not on the value written on the bill, and use tiers if you want to reward higher collections. If the customer pays in parts, sales commission follows each payment. For Atome, use the amount received after the platform’s fee. More in salon POS with Atome.

Hands-on commission: for doing, on each session

Hands-on commission rewards the therapist who performs the treatment. It is triggered each time a package session is redeemed, so the therapist who does the work is paid for it, session by session, whoever sold the package.

When the package moves to another branch

Sales commission stays with the branch and staff member who sold the package. Hands-on commission goes to the therapist at the branch where the session was done. A cross-branch settlement report shows each branch’s share at month end. See cross-branch package redemption.

A worked scenario, without numbers

A customer buys a facial package from consultant A at Branch A and pays in two parts.

  1. First payment arrives. Consultant A earns sales commission on that payment.
  2. Session 1 at Branch A. Therapist B redeems the session and earns hands-on commission.
  3. Second payment arrives. Consultant A earns sales commission on the second payment.
  4. Session 2 at Branch B. Therapist C at Branch B redeems the session and earns hands-on commission. The cross-branch report records that Branch B performed a session from Branch A’s package.

Nobody waits for the package to finish, and nobody is paid for money or work that has not happened.

How MyBMS Pro calculates two-track commission

MyBMS Pro is an AI-driven, next-generation SaaS management hub specifically designed for multi-branch beauty salons. For package commission, these features work together:

Diagram of one package and two kinds of commission in MyBMS Pro: each payment earns the consultant sales commission, each redeemed session earns the therapist hands-on commission, and a session at another branch is recorded in the cross-branch report
  • Two-track tiered commission engine. Sales commission is calculated in tiers on the total amount actually collected; hands-on commission is triggered when a package session is redeemed or a service is performed.
  • Cross-branch redemption. A package bought at Branch A can be redeemed at Branch B. Sales and hands-on commission are routed automatically, and a cross-branch settlement report is generated.
  • Atome and BNPL support. The amount received after the platform’s fee is recorded and used as the base for sales commission.
  • Real-time staff status and ranking. Shows which therapists are free or serving and this month’s top three, so package customers are assigned on a clear basis.
