When a customer buys a package at Branch A and redeems a session at Branch B, the fair way to split it is to separate the two jobs: sales commission stays with the staff and branch that sold the package, and hands-on commission goes to the therapist and branch that delivered the session. The package balance must be shared across all branches so a session can be redeemed anywhere without double-counting, and a cross-branch settlement report then shows what each branch owes the other at month-end. MyBMS Pro does this routing and reporting automatically for multi-branch beauty salons.
Why “buy at A, redeem at B” causes so many arguments
For a single outlet, a package is simple: the same branch sells it, delivers it and keeps the money. Once a salon grows into a chain, customers start using whichever branch is nearest that day. That is good for the customer, but it creates three questions nobody can answer quickly:
- Who earns the commission? The consultant at Branch A closed the sale, but the therapist at Branch B did the work.
- Which branch gets the revenue? Branch A collected the money; Branch B used its room, its staff time and its consumables.
- Is the balance correct? If each branch keeps its own records, a customer’s remaining sessions can be out of date at the other branch.
Without clear rules, staff compete for package customers, therapists hesitate to serve customers who bought elsewhere, and month-end becomes a manual reconciliation exercise between branch managers.
In the salon chains I have worked with, the most common misunderstanding is that all the revenue should simply be counted for the branch that sold the package. In practice, accounts staff often key in commission wrongly or forget to do it at all. Before they used a cross-branch settlement report, commission was paid late every month, because each branch had to send its report back to HQ and HQ then updated the commission by hand. It was slow and inefficient.

Step 1: Keep one package balance for the whole chain
Cross-branch redemption only works if every branch sees the same record. Each customer’s package should show:
- remaining sessions,
- redemption history (which branch, which date, which therapist), and
- any outstanding balance still owed on the package.
When Branch B redeems a session, the balance should update for every branch immediately. This prevents the two most common errors: a session being redeemed twice, or a customer being told they have no sessions left when they do.
Step 2: Split commission into two tracks
The cleanest rule is to pay two different commissions for two different jobs.

| Sales commission | Hands-on commission | |
|---|---|---|
| Rewards | Selling the package | Delivering the session |
| Triggered when | Money is actually collected | A session is redeemed or a service is performed |
| Goes to | The staff and branch that made the sale | The therapist and branch that delivered the session |
Because sales commission is based on real collections, the salon never pays commission on money it has not received. Because hands-on commission is paid per session, therapists at every branch are rewarded for serving customers who bought somewhere else. For a deeper look at the two tracks, see our guide to salon staff commission in Malaysia.
Step 3: Agree the inter-branch rule before month-end
Splitting commission settles the staff side. The branches still need to agree how revenue and costs move between them when one branch sells and another delivers. The exact rule is a business decision for the owner, but it should be:
- written down and the same for every branch,
- applied per session, not negotiated case by case, and
- visible in a report, so both branch managers see the same numbers.
Step 4: Close the month with a cross-branch settlement report
At month-end, the owner and branch managers should be able to see, in one report, every session that was sold at one branch and redeemed at another, and the resulting amounts between branches. If this has to be rebuilt from spreadsheets, it will be late and it will be argued over.
How MyBMS Pro handles cross-branch redemption
MyBMS Pro is an AI-driven, next-generation SaaS management hub specifically designed for multi-branch beauty salons. For packages used across branches, it brings together:

- Membership & Course Tracker. Remaining sessions, history and outstanding balances are tracked for every customer, and a session can be redeemed at the customer’s own branch or at another branch with zero-error, single-session deduction.
- Dual-track tiered commission engine. Sales commission is calculated in tiers on total collection; hands-on commission is triggered when a package session is redeemed or a service is performed.
- Automatic cross-branch routing and reconciliation. When a customer buys at Branch A and redeems at Branch B, the system routes sales commission and hands-on commission automatically and generates a cross-branch settlement report for month-end reconciliation.
- HQ–branch structure. Headquarters has cross-branch authority and can arrange bookings for any branch, while each branch keeps its own day-to-day operation.
- BNPL-aware commission. If the package was paid with Atome, sales commission is based on the actual amount received after the platform fee.

FAQ
Who should get the commission when a customer buys at one branch and is served at another?
Split it into two tracks: the person who sold the package earns sales commission, and the therapist who delivered the session earns hands-on commission. Each commission follows the branch where that work happened.
Can a customer use the same package at any branch?
With a shared package record, yes. In MyBMS Pro, a session can be redeemed at the customer’s own branch or another branch, and the remaining balance updates across the chain.
How do we stop staff fighting over package customers?
Pay sales commission for selling and hands-on commission for delivering. When both jobs are rewarded separately, there is less reason to compete for the same customer.
How do branches reconcile at the end of the month?
Use one cross-branch settlement report that lists every session sold at one branch and redeemed at another. MyBMS Pro generates this report automatically.
Is MyBMS Pro only for salon chains?
It is designed with multi-branch salons in mind, but single-outlet salons can also use it.
